One Room Challenge: Week 2…DEMO!

It’s Week 2 of ORC  and to be honest I don’t know if I’m behind schedule or right on time.

So, in true transparency when I decided to take on this project, I thought I was going to hire a contractor to do the big stuff of the project (lighting, plumbing, drywall). After meeting with a couple of contractors that I have used before with my interior design clients. I decided that I was going to take on the work myself and for the jobs I don’t feel comfortable with I will contract out those to individuals.

 The Demo!

Wow, was my first reaction once we started this process. I don’t think I was truly prepared for the demo and how well this house was put together. I first started with the wall in between the vanities and the shower area. I really wanted to get perspective for how big the space will be, and this helped me be able to visualize.

After the drywall was taken down, I moved on to the mirror and tile in the shower area. I am meeting with a couple of subcontractors tomorrow for the plumbing and electrical work.

Last week, I was still debating on whether I was going to do wainscotting on the wall opposite of the vanities. I have made the decision that I am going to move forward with adding it. This will help with giving me a little forgiveness in the drywall that didn’t come clean off from the wallpaper removal.

So cheers, to making up some decisions!!
